Dolls are a child's first introduction to self-image. Now more than ever it is important that our children are surrounded with positive images that reflect who they are, what they may look like, and how beautiful that look is. The history of doll making is so much more than just an object of play. It encourages dreams, promotes intelligence, creates social skills, and opens our minds to develop a healthy self-image. I wanted to create brown dolls that brown girls in ALL shades of melanin can identify with.
Melanin Like Me (MLM), was created to inspire self-love in brown girls by introducing them to dolls they can relate to and identify with..."Dolls that look like them". We offer 4 different shades of melanin dolls, and additional shades can be special ordered. Each doll is lovingly crafted in every aspect with my own design from hair to clothing.

My name is Pam, and I am the owner and artist of Melanin Like Me (MLM). I created MLM in honor of my mother who started this vision over 30+ years ago, when she noticed the lack of representation of brown dolls. Recently, I decided to pick up the torch and continue to share her vision. Like her, I want to teach brown girls how to celebrate their own individual beauty, no matter what shade of Melanin they are.
